A divine gift of joy and generosity

From Robert Ellis
Logsdon Seminary

Babs Baugh was a divine gift of joy and generosity to a world desperately in need of both. Her life has impacted thousands through her music, humor, sense of adventure, and desire to help others grow in faith and service to Christ.

Babs has been a great friend of Logsdon Seminary. As President of the Eula Mae and John Baugh Foundation, she was instrumental in the Foundation’s major gift to Trinity Baptist Church for the creation of a state-of-the-art campus for Logsdon Seminary in San Antonio. In the new location the campus quickly grew to become the major center for graduate preparation of Baptist ministers in the southern half of Texas. When the new campus was dedicated in 2018, Babs offered closing words during which she said: “I love Logsdon Seminary.” Her compassion for preparing ministers is tangibly obvious in the beautiful new facility she helped to bring to reality in San Antonio, along with contributions to many other theology schools across the country.

With Babs’ leadership the Baugh Foundation also gave very generously to the Abilene campus of Logsdon Seminary for the creation of a student lounge and a new video-equipped seminar room. Those gifts were followed by significant scholarshiping and other assistance for women in ministry and international students at Logsdon. Babs, alongside her daughters, has impacted the future of the church in Texas and around the world as she has given generously to prepare the next generation of ministers. Without an ounce of pretense or arrogance, Babs Baugh made the world a much better place by just being Babs: a real person whose irrepressible exuberance for living with joy and giving to others enriched the lives of all of us privileged to know her. Thanks be to God for Babs Baugh!
